Jayasudha Takes Dig At Kangana Ranaut For Getting Padma Shri Within 10 Films; Says, ‘I Feel Bad About South Cinema Not Being Appreciated By Government’
Actress turned politician Jayasudha is a popular name in the South film industry as she predominately works in Telegu. She is widely known for her performance in the Bollywood film ‘Sooryavansham’ which starred Amitabh Bachchan. In a recent interview, Jayasudha slammed Government for not acknowledging the South industry and its actors like Bollywood. She sort of took a dig at Kangana Ranaut for getting the Padma Shri award within 10 films saying they are many prolific South actors who are yet not recognized by the Government.

During her appearance on the talk show ‘Unstoppable,’ Jayasudha spoke about the discrimination between South and Hindi cinema. The Varisu actor told the host Nanadakumari Balakrishna, “I’m okay with Kangana Ranaut getting Padma Shri. She is an amazing actress. Yet, she received that award within 10 films. Over here, we worked on many films yet not recognized by the Government.”

She added, “Even Vijaya Nirmala, the women director who is in Guinness records, hasn’t received such appreciation. Sometimes I feel bad that the South is not being appreciated by the Government.” Jayasudha was joined by veteran actress Jaya Prada who agreed with her thoughts and added, “We should get it respectably. Not by asking for it.” Jaya also recalled how while she was the MP, she had requested a Bharat Ratna award for actor NTR, and she is trying to date.

Interestingly, this year South films have taken over the box office by storm and have even shadowed Bollywood films. South movies such as KGF Chapter 2, RRR, Vikram, Kantara, Valimai, and others have done fantastic business. On the other hand, Hindi films including, Shamshera, Samrat Prithviraj, Laal Singh Chaddha, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Thank God, and Ranveer Singh’s recent release Cirkus have miserably failed at the ticket window.
